History of Trees for Troops:

In 2005, the National Christmas Tree Growers Association developed the Christmas Spirit Foundation. Through the foundation the Trees for Troops program was started. In that first year 4300 Christmas trees were donated and distributed to five military bases in the U.S. and overseas. As of 2015, the program has donated a total of 176,096 trees to over 75 bases.

Fleming’s Christmas Tree Farms has been involved donating trees since 2005. In 2009, a local group called the Trees for Troops Day committee was formed to organize an event. The purpose of the event was to sell trees to be donated to the Trees for Troop program. In the seven years of the event, over 1750 trees have been donated to the program.
